Crane in the long grassEtching on cotton rag, edition of 30

Etching of a fern frond with fine seed heads, in charcoal ink

Slow work, on purpose.

Folivra is a small atelier for intaglio prints. Nothing is reproduced; every sheet is pulled from the plate.

Drawn into wax
Each plate begins as a needle drawing through a thin ground on copper.
Bitten slowly
Short baths in the acid keep the finest grass lines from closing up.
Pulled by hand
Damp cotton rag goes through the press once, and the plate leaves its mark.

From the plate drawer.
